Description

Learn about all the aspects of Korean civilisation during a guided visit of the Korean royal palaces, the national folklore museum, Jogyesa temple and Namdaemun Museum!

A shuttle will pick you up directly from your hotel to take you to Gyeongbokgung Palace. On the way, you will pass by the Blue House, the Korean presidential building.

Upon arrival at Gyeongbok Palace, you can see the changing of the guard ceremony in period costume. You will then enter into the palace grounds where your guide will present the history of this major residence of the kings of the Joseon dynasty, built in 1394. You will pass through the palace's courtyards and gardens and discover some of the main buildings, especially the throne room, the king and queen's quarters, the reception venues for prestigious guests and the residence of the crown prince.

You will also visit the National Folklore Museum consisting of a pagoda-shaped building featuring several exhibition halls which will introduce you to Korean lifestyle and customs.

Your guide will then take you to see the Jogyesa Buddhist Temple.

You will visit the Ginseng centre where you can buy products based on this medicinal plant renowned for its many health benefits such as reducing fatigue, improving concentration or strengthening the immune system.

You will have lunch before setting off to discover Changdoek Palace and its key role in Korean history.

Built as a secondary palace in 1405, Changdoek Palace gained importance from early 17th century and became the Korean kings' favourite residence. Many of them were then crowned in this palace and ruled the peninsula. You will learn about the history of this UNESCO world heritage site and view the architecture of the 13 buildings comprising the palace. Of particular note, you will discover the Injeongjeon building where the throne room is located and also Seonjeongjeo, where the king used to meet with his ministers. A stroll through the palace gardens will make you feel calm and serene.

Soon after you will visit the Insadong neighbourhood's antique street as well as an amethyst factory, a violet-coloured stone often used in jewellery.

Your next stop will be Namdaemun Market, one of the city's liveliest. Taking its name from the South gate which once guarded the city and is still a symbol today, Namdaemun market will amaze you with the diversity of its products.

Lastly, the shuttle will take you back to your hotel.
