Enjoy a full-day excursion from San José to discover the Izaru Volcano, the Lankester Botanical Garden and the Orosi Valley!

You will be picked up from your hotel in San José and head first to the Izaru Volcano National Park, located around 1.5 hours from San José. It is the highest volcano in Costa Rica, reaching an altitude of 3,432 metres. You will have the opportunity to see two of its most famous craters: 

• The main crater, which until April 2023 housed an acid lake. This acid lake disappeared as a result of volcanic activity
• The Diego de la Haye crater, known for being the volcano's largest

You will then head to the Lankester Botanical Gardens. On the way, you'll stop in Cartago, the country's former capital. You will visit the Basilica of Our Lady of the Angels, an important place of pilgrimage. 

You will explore the Botanical Gardens, created to protect over 800 species of orchid. Before enjoying a well-deserved lunch, you'll make a final stop in the Orosi valley. It is surrounded by majestic mountains, with a landscape made up of forests and vast agricultural holdings. You can enjoy the panoramic view from the Orosi viewpoint.

You will then have lunch in a restaurant where you will be offered a traditional meal, before heading back to San José.
