Discover an important part of Reunion's culture by visiting this Tamil temple!
The Tamil religion is an integral part of Reunion's history and as you walk around the island you'll spot various temples. The only temple allowing travelers inside its walls is the Maryen Peroumal temple.
You'll join your guide on site and plunge straight into a world of worship and beliefs in this family-run, associative temple. You'll learn more about the philosophy of Tamil culture as well as the history of divinities and ancestral rites from your guide, a temple member who will provide you with a rich and rare experience.
In order to respect this sacred place, it is advisable to make a day of Lent the day before the visit: no meat or animal products, eat only vegetables and starchy foods (rice, grains ...). In fact, anyone wishing to come to the temple to pray, or to enter the temple grounds, must undergo a Lenten period of several days. This day of Lent allows visitors to immerse themselves in this experience and live this privileged moment to the full.
This 2-hour visit will allow you to enter fully immersed in Tamil culture.
