Get ready for an adventure-filled half-day trip in Queenstown! You will take part in two activities during this unforgettable day: 

Extreme speedboat cruise

Get ready for an unconventional cruise... You can forget about relaxing on the water: this ride is all about speed and adrenaline!  Fly through the Shotover Canyon at full speed on a motorboat with an experienced pilot at the helm. Your pilot will take a malevolent delight in skimming past the canyon walls to guarantee maximum thrills!

4x4 adventure through landscapes from The Lord of the Rings

Climb aboard a 4x4 for an excursion that crosses the Shotover River and plunges you into the grand landscape of the canyon. Your driver will make a brief stop at the Arrow River to explore its abandoned gold mine. You will also get the chance to try panning for gold in the river!

The adventure continues as you hit the road again to discover the magnificent landscapes used as mystical locations in The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy! 

At the end of the trip, your driver will take you back to your hotel in Queenstown.

Good to know

  • Availability: every day (excluding exceptional dates)
  • Language: commentary from the driver and guide in English
  • To take part in this activity simply present your voucher to the local tour operator on the day
  • For safety reasons, children under 4 years old, or measuring under 1m (3ft 4in) are not permitted to take part in this activity
  • For the 8:15am and 1:30pm tours, you will do the 4x4 adventure first and finish with the extreme speed boat ride
  • For the 9:45am and 2:45pm tours, you will do the extreme speed boat ride first and finish with the 4x4 adventure
  • The canyon cruise lasts around 25 minutes
  • It is recommended that you wear warm clothing during the cruise, as well as sunglasses
  • Video cameras and cameras may not be used during the cruise
  • The tour is subject to cancellation if only 1 participant is taking part. In this case, an alternative date or a refund will be proposed
