Follow in the footsteps of your favourite characters from The Lord of the Rings in an off-road adventure through the superb natural landscapes of the Wakatipu Basin!
You will leave Queenstown and travel to the basin and gorges of Kawarau, where the famous scene with the Argonath, the Pillars of Kings, was filmed. You will then head to The Remarkables, a magnificent mountain range. From here, you can enjoy a panoramic view over Deer Park Heights, the site where the Rohan refugees fled during the battle with the Wargs. The landscapes are quite simply breathtaking!
As you leave the Kawarau Gorge, you will head towards Arrowtown to discover the forest clearing where the loss of the One Ring by Isildur was filmed. Experience a true off-road adventure as you leave the tourist trails and head into the true countryside – you'll even cross the same river where the Ford of Bruinen scene was filmed. Take a tea break at this spot and and make the most of your time by trying your hand at gold panning.
Finally you will head to the entrance to Skippers Canyon to discover the spectacular views over the Wakatipu Basin. At the end of the day you will be driven back to your hotel in Queenstown.
