Discover Edinburgh on a day trip by train from London!

Your day will begin at King's Cross station in London, where you'll need to arrive with your tickets and voucher to travel by train to Edinburgh's Waverley station.

On arrival in Edinburgh, you'll discover the city on a Hop-on Hop-off Bus Tour aboard an open-top bus. This bus tour will allow you to discover the main sites of the Scottish capital such as the Royal Mile, the Palace of Holyroodhouse, as well as Greyfriars Bobby (entrances not included). You can also stroll Edinburgh's historic streets at your own pace.

You'll also have the opportunity to freely visit Edinburgh castle where you can see the Scottish crown jewels and enjoy panoramic views over the city.

At the end of the day, you'll catch a train back from Edinburgh's Waverley station, returning to King's Cross station.

Important information

  • Availability: Monday to Saturday (except in exceptional circumstances)
  • Meeting time and place: near the ticket offices where a representative of our partner will be waiting at 6:30am. Train departs from London's Kings Cross station at 7am, arriving at Edinburgh-Waverley station at 11:22am
  • Return: departure by train from Edinburgh-Waverley station at 5:30 pm, arrival in London at 10:09 pm (train times are indicative and subject to change)
  • Please note that there is no accompanying person or guide
  • In the case of reduced rates (children, senior citizens or students), you are asked to bring proof of identity or your student card
  • Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult
  • A minimum of 8 participants in total is required for the excursion to take place. The tour operator reserves the right to cancel the tour if there are not enough participants. A refund or alternative date will then be offered
  • There are no storage facilities for strollers and baby carriages, and backpacks/suitcases larger than 30 liters will not be permitted
  • First class includes food and refreshments served at your seat
  • Train seats are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and are not guaranteed together
  • Information about Edinburgh Castle:
  • You will receive a ticket with a specific time for Edinburgh Castle. It takes at least 2 hours to see all the highlights of the castle
  • Schedules (as a guide): 9:30am to 6pm in summer (April 1 to September 30) and 9:30am to 5pm in winter (Oct 1 - March 31)
  • Edinburgh Castle is closed on December 25 and 26 and January 1
  • Bus information:
  • When you board the bus, you'll be able to choose between several tours
  • Edinburgh Tour:
    • Tour duration without getting off the bus: 70 minutes
    • Departs from St Andrew Square stop, North Side, Edinburgh EH2 1AF
    • Schedules: 8:45am - 6pm in summer and 9am - 4pm in winter
    • Frequency: every 10 or 8 minutes in summer and every 20 minutes in winter
  • City Sightseeing Edinburgh:
    • Tour duration without getting off the bus: 60 minutes
    • Schedules: 9:30am - 6pm in summer (April 1 to September 30) and 9:30am - 5pm in winter (October 1 to March 31)
