Description

Discover the authentic Cutty Sark, one of the most famous and fastest ships of the 19th century!

In the Royal Museums complex at Greenwich you can visit the iconic Cutty Sark!

Mainly used in the tea trade, the Cutty Sark was famous as being one of the fastest clippers in the world. She has crossed the oceans, calling at some of the world's biggest ports, including being the first tea clipper to call at Mauritius.

You can explore the outside of the boat and admire its rudder and impressive tall masts. As it is 3 metres above the ground, you can also get under the boat's copper hull and see the revolutionary design for its time of this sailing ship.

Inside, you can visit the Captain's cabin and learn more about the crew's way of life. Thanks to immersive installations, you can find out what the sailors ate, how they slept and take relive their adventures. Historical characters will tell you the stories of navigators like Captain Woodget.

You won't want to miss the exhibition of model cargo ships and the collection of figureheads representing iconic characters such as Florence Nightingale, Sir Lancelot or the new one, Nannie, created to showcase the original design of the Cutty Sark.
