Description

Explore Bethlehem and visit its key Christian churches during this half-day trip!

You'll leave from your hotel and head to Bethlehem. Bethlehem is famous for being the birthplace of King David, and he later ruled this town. Once you arrive, you'll stop at Manger Square where Christians from all over the world gather on Christmas Eve. Around the square you'll find the Palestinian Peace Centre, the Omar Mosque and the Church of the Nativity.

You'll visit the Church of the Nativity which was built in the 4th century on the spot where Jesus was born. The church was enlarged in the 6th century, but you'll still be able to admire the original mosaics. You'll continue your visit to the Grotto of the Nativity where a silver star marks the birthplace of Christ.

You'll leave the Basilica and enter the Church of St. Catherine. You'll see chambers cut out of the rock that lie under this church which was built in 1882. You'll visit the different chapels, including the Chapel of the Innocent and the Chapel of St. Joseph where St. Jerome translated the Bible from Hebrew to Latin.

You'll head off towards Jerusalem and pass the Church of All Angels, designed by Berluzzi which marks the Shepherds' Field. You'll also pass by Ruth's field, the place where she met her husband.

At the end of the tour you'll be dropped off at David Citadel Hotel in Jerusalem.
