Leave Frankfurt behind for a day for a bus excursion to Cologne.
Set off from Frankfurt at the beginning of the day and follow the Rhine towards one of the oldest city’s in Germany: Cologne.
Your guide will tell you about the history of this ancient city, founded over 2,000 years ago, which has survived time to become an important cultural and artistic hub in Germany.
Admire the city’s Roman relics including the Dionysus mosaic, the Praetorium and the artefacts exhibited at the Romano-Germanic Museum.
Your guide will also show you Cologne’s medieval monuments including the city gates and various churches.
You will then visit the jewel in the city’s crown: Cologne Cathedral. Construction of this impressive Gothic edifice was started in 1248 and only finished in 1880. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Cologne Cathedral is one of the biggest gothic churches in the world and the most visited monument in Germany.
After your visit to the cathedral, you’ll have some free time to explore the city and smell some famous Cologne perfume before heading back to Frankfurt in the afternoon.
