Discover the charm of historic Bruges, famous for its lace-making and traditional chocolates!
Meet us at Amsterdam-Central station, for an original excursion to Bruges in Belgium. After a three-hour bus ride, you'll arrive in Bruges, a small historic town renowned for its charm and, like Amsterdam, also known as the Venice of the North for its many canals.
Bruges is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and you'll soon see why: the charm of its cobbled streets, medieval architecture and canals is immediately apparent.
On arrival, you'll enjoy a one-hour guided tour of the city's history and heritage, from chocolate to lace. Among the sights you'll see are the Bruges Beguinage, a former convent (probably reminiscent of the Amsterdam Beguinage/Begijnhof), the Basilica of the Holy Blood, St. Saviour's Cathedral and the Bruges Belfry, a tall medieval tower located on Bruges' Grand-Place. This same square is also the site of the famous Bruges Christmas market.
You'll then have several hours of free time to visit the places you've enjoyed and those you'd like to discover. Be sure to sample a Belgian beer in a typical Belgian pub, have lunch in a Belgian restaurant and buy some chocolates.
After a day exploring Bruges, you'll return to the Netherlands and Amsterdam.
